We had a lovely evening creating our garlands, and many were truly spectacular. Many thanks to Barb Nancollas, who had made an example for us and brought much foliage for us to choose from, as well as giving helpful tips throughout. A great evening with stylish results.
Tracey gave us a lovely evening full of wonderful flowers, and some very creative containers, which a few members were keen to copy!
Thank you Tracey, for coming a long way to demonstrate for us, and we look forward to seeing you again next year, when you are going to do our Open Demonstration at Newington Village Hall in October.
Our party was a great success – lovely food, wonderful table decorations, a superb raffle. Also entertainment in the form of an ‘imposed’ competition between two of our talented arrangers, Alison and Elaine. They did a superb job; not easy in front of the whole club to improvise like that!
Congratulations to all the members who brought an arrangement in a cup and saucer. They were all delightful, and the members’ choice 20 pences added up to £24 for our charity. Angela’s beautiful arrangement was the members’ winner.
What an evening! The rain was coming down in stair-rods, and we honestly thought that only the committee would turn up! We underestimated our members, and kudos to those who came.
The evening was a great success (if on a smaller scale than usual). Our thanks to Pat for doing an example of a landscape, and giving some pointers, and to Barbara and Verity who commented on the arrangements at the end of the evening.
The finished work was of a high standard, and, as usual very varied. As expected, much of the flowers and foliage were from the garden and hedgerow, and I think we all gained some tips on wild foliage. Well done everyone, and let’s hope the weather is better in July!
Many congratulations to all our members who entered the show. You all did some wonderful work, and we had many prizes.
Alison Lowther received a first prize in the class, ‘Pearl Divers’ and was also highly commended for her ‘Suffused with Diamonds’. Our secretary, Marina Thorne, was awarded the NOVICE Award for the show, and had prizes in two classes including a second prize for her ‘Fragments of beauty’.
Janet Grainer had four awards, one in each class she entered, including a third with her miniature ‘Birth Stones’. Carole Springett and Verity Prior also won awards in the pedestal class, ‘It’s a kind of magic’.
Well done everyone, you have made the club proud.
Thanks once again to the inimitable Robin, for giving us a wonderful evening, full of fun, and beautiful flowers.
We all love having Robin come to demonstrate, as we are sure to laugh out loud, as well as to admire his exquisite arrangements.
Robin never seems to take himself too seriously, but he truly is one of the best demonstrators we have had the pleasure of welcoming to Rainham.
Please come back soon!
